February 15, 1951 - Monticello Express

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, Feb. 3, at the Goettsch funeral home for Mrs. Harry (Clara Louise Hellberg) Lange, who died in Anamosa Feb. 1. Rev. Barney Crockett officiated. The body was removed to Riverside cemetery vault for burial later.

Mrs. Lang was born March 21, 1878, at McGregor. At the age of five she moved with her family to Anamosa. She grew up in that community and received her elementary education at the private school of Mr. Corbin at the Sisters of Mercy school. She graduated from the Anamosa high school in 1897. She attended Cornell College, Mount Vernon, studying voice training at Milwaukee, Wis., and Boston, Mass. After completing these studies, she maintained a studio and taught art in Anamosa.

She was married to Harry J. Lang of Monticello and lived in Monticello from 1916 until 1942 when she returned to Anamosa, her husband having passed away in 1935. She remained in Anamosa until her death on February 1, 1951.

As a young woman she united with the Anamosa Congregational church on confession of faith. This was on January 1, 1809. She transferred her membership to the Monticello Congregational church in 1916. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. In late years her health was failing and she was confined to her home and later to the hospital.

She is survived by her sister, Mrs. F. B. Sigworth, and her brother, W. F. Hellberg, both of Anamosa, also by a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Those from out of town attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Robertson of Monticello; Mr. and Mrs. John Albang and son, John jr. of Hopkinton; William Johnston of Springville, and Miss Eda Hellberg, McGregor.
