Edgar E. Lyon was born in Olin, Iowa on October 1, 1904 the son of Edwin and Myrtle Switzer Lyon. He died in Anamosa, Iowa November 14, 1982. He was 78.

He was educated in Iowa's rural schools.

He married Gladys Clark on September 9, 1923 at Maquoketa, Iowa but lived most of his life in Linn and Jones Counties. He farmed for a while, worked for Clinton Engine in Maquoketa, and finally retired from Allis Chalmers of Cedar Rapids in 1969. He spent these retirement years in Wyoming.

He is survived by his wife Gladys of the Anamosa Care Center; six children: Margaret, Mrs. Alfred Pegarick of Olin; Robert of Center Junction; Elaine, Mrs. Ernest Husmann of Stanwood; Doris, Mrs. Dean Tenley of Stanwood; Darwin of Maquoketa; Patricia, Mrs. George Zirkelbach of Olin; 28 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one half-sister, Mrs. Madge Sullivan of Marion.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, and two sons.

Services were held in the Hayden Funeral Home, Wyoming, Iowa at 1:30 p.m., Tuesday, November 16, 1982 with burial in the Antioch Cemetery following. Rev. Clifford Rogers officiated and Virginia Pace was the organist. Pallbearers were Michael Lyon, Richard Lyon, Mark Lyon, David Tenley, Roger Zirkelbach and Edward Husmann.
