Final rites were held Tuesday for Sam P. Hoffman, 83, who passed away at the John McDonald hospital early Saturday morning, Jan. 13, after a brief illness.

Services were held at 2 o'clock from the Goettsch funeral home with Rev. James W. Sala officiating. Interment was made at Oakweek cemetery. Pallbearers included Paul Guyan, Carl Hein, Galen Hein, Alvin Bleadorn, Forest Ely and Henry Bader.

Born Nov. 2, 1867 in Cascade, Mr. Hoffman was the son of Henry and Katherine Grenewald Hoffman, who made their home on a farm near there. On March 22, *** Muller and they made their home there until 10 years ago when they moved to their home on Second street.

Surviving are his wife, Pauline, three sons and two daughters: Walter of Empire, Ore.; Henry of San Leondro, Calif.; Mrs. William Emmert (Renata) of Janesville, Wis.; Mrs. Fred Schneiter of Monticello, and Maynard of Martelle. Also surviving are twelve grandchildren.
