WYOMING - Funeral services were held Tuesday at Hayden home for Christian M. Paulsen, 81, who died early Sunday morning, May 7, in Anamosa hospital. The Rev. Alfred Mardorf officiated. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Mr. Paulsen was born Jan. 29, 1886 in Bredstedt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, the son of Martin and Ada Paulsen. He spent his childhood in Germany, coming to this country as a young man and settling in the Hale and Olin area.

He married Kathryn Hansen Oct. 18, 1906 in Wyoming. They farmed until his retirement in 1940 when they moved to Hale. His wife preceded him in death in 1946.

He moved to Wyoming, where he served as night watchman for several years before going to Sabula, where he lived for some 15 years. The past two years he had lived in a nursing home in Anamosa.

He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Henry Ahrendsen of Hale, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren.
