MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Mrs. Eibo Eiben, 86, were held Tuesday afternoon, April 4, at St. Matthew Lutheran church. Interment was in Oakwood cemetery. The Rev. Anton Kirkegaard officiated.

Mrs. Eiben died at St. Luke hospital, Cedar Rapids, Saturday afternoon, April 1. She had entered the hospital a week previous for surgery on a fractured hip.

Hannah C. Fehners Eiben was born March 22, 1881, at Ostfriesland, Germany, the daughter of John and Lena Hedden Fehners. She came to the United States with her family in 1889.

On April 6, 1899, she married Eibo Eiben and the couple farmed in the Castle Grove township area, prior to moving to Monticello in 1935.

Survivors include eight children, John of Scotch Grove, Garrett of Cedar Rapids, Ben of Monticello, Mrs. Carl (Mary) Jacobi of Hot Springs, Ark., Mrs. Augusta Crary of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Edward (Emma) Ploetz of Sheboygan, Wis., Mrs. Herman (Louise) Egger of Hopkinton, and Carl of Amherst, Mass.; 22 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren; a half-brother, Herman Schafer of Anamosa; three half-sisters, Mrs. Fannie Siebels and Mrs. Etta Rieken, both of Monticello, and Mrs. Dena Ortgies of Anamosa.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1951 and a daughter, Fannie Stadtmuller in 1935.

Pallbearers were Ernest Heiken, Harold Eiben, Henry Heiken, Lawrence Siebels, Edward Siebels and Richard Mardorf.
