Viola Cruise, 63, of Anamosa, died of cancer Saturday evening, Jan. 6, 1990 at St. Luke's Hospital in Cedar Rapids.

Viola Marie Cruise was born Aug. 30, 1926 at Standale, Ind., the daughter of the late Otto Luker and Eleanor Henke Luker.

Viola Maire Luker and James L. Cruise were married Aug. 18, 1945 in Anamosa. Viola worked for Cryovac in Cedar Rapids for a number of years, retiring in October, 1989. The couple made their home in Anamosa since 1985. Prior to that they lived in Cedar Rapids for 35 years.

She is survived by her husband James L.; one son, Delbert L. Cruise of Cedar Rapids; one daughter, Beverly Hoffman of Onslow. One brother, Harry Luker of Anamosa; and two sisters, Mrs. Jack (Ethel) McGuire of Olin, and Mrs. Lynn (Helen) Dripps of Elkader also survive. There are eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, four sisters and one grandson.

Funeral services were held Wednesday Jan. 10 at the Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa with interment in Wilcox Cemetery. Rev. Kathryn R. Bissen officiated. Pallbearers were Brian Cruise, William Cruise, James Cruise, Christopher Hoffman, Joe Dripps and Brian Hammer. Memorials made by given to the American Cancer Society.

Goettsch Funeral Home of Anamosa was in charge of arrangements.
