OXFORD JCT. - Funeral services for Melvin Stevenson, 53, who was killed Friday morning, when the pickup truck he was driving was hit by a train at a crossing east of Oxford Jct., were held Monday, Aug. 1 at 1:30 at the Methodist church with the Rev. Nevin Williams officiating. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery with military services by Wapsie Post No. 473.

He was born Jan. 5, 1913, the son of Arthur and Tillie Wlach Stevenson. He had never married. He farmed east of town his entire life. He was a member of Legion Post 473, Oxford Jct.

Survivors include his father Arthur, one brother, John of Goose Lake and one sister, Mrs. Mary Jane Forney of Clinton and a number of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were William Clapp, Vince Lasack, Edward Thordson, Albert Vacek, Paul Novak and Jessie Fields.
