WYOMING - Funeral services for Mrs. Harriet Bates, 66, were held Wednesday, June 28, at Hayden Funeral home with the Rev. Nevin N. Williams officiating. Mrs. Bates died June 26 in a Billings, Mont. hospital. Burial was in the Wyoming cemetery.

Harriet Pauline Shaffer Bates, daughter of Charles B. and Harriet Elwood Shaffer, graduated from Wyoming high school in 1917 and later from St. Luke's school of nursing at Cedar Rapids. She followed the nursing profession for many years.

She married Walter Bates on Sept. 5, 1953, and they lived in Wyoming and Cody, Wyo. She was a member of the Eastern Star, White Shrine and Methodist church.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. Ed Steele, Rosewll, Ga. and one brother, Charles Orland Shaffer, Los Angeles, Calif.

Pallbearers were Reggie Morse, Lyle Thomkins, Edwin Wilcox, Robert Alden, Howard Day and Harrison Morse.
