OLIN - Funeral services for James A. Postel, 66, were held Thursday afternoon at Hayden Funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Jones officiating. Burial was in Antioch cemetery.

Mr. Postel died Jan. 4 at his home following a long illness. He was born Feb. 26, 1899 in Linn county, the eldest son of Lemurel A. and Louise Patnode Postel. He attended the public schools and was a graduate of Michigan State auto school. He worked as a mechanic until health forced a change of occupation.

He married Evelyn Bixler, Olin, on June 29, 1925. The couple made their home in Jones county, moving to Olin 30 years ago.

They were the parents of seven sons: Robert James, Cedar Rapids; Richard, Marietta, Ga.; Donald, Mystic, Conn.; Lt. Dale, Long Beach, Calif.; Chief Keith Postel, Rota, Spain; Lt. (j.g.) Kenneth Postel, Bethesda, Md.; Petty Officer 3/c Lynn Postel, Point Mugu, Calif.

In addition to his wife and sons, he is survived by 12 grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Ed Pospishil of Central City, Mrs. Andrew Tobiasen and Mrs. Rex Heiken of Anamosa, Mrs. Ray Tarbox of Iowa City, Mrs. Charles Arthur of Hattiesubrg, Minn., Mrs. Carl Morning of Monticello, and three brothers, Merle of Monticello, Edward of Dubuque and Robert of Anamosa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two grandsons.

Pallbearers were nephews, Tom Postel, Lyman Jr. Postel, George Postel, Harold Postel, Anamosa; Stanley Morning, Marion; Allen Bixler, Olin.
