MONTICELLO - Memorial services for Dr. Harry Clayton Culver, 86, were held Sunday afternoon at St. Luke's Methodist church. The Rev. Howard Eldrenkamp, church pastor, officiated. Memorial services and burial will be held March 20 in Pamona, Calif.

Dr. Culver died March 4 at John McDonald hospital, Monticello, after an illness of several weeks. He was born March 9, 1879 in Dickens, the son of Charles William and Bessie Ellsworth Culver.

He graduated from Cornell college in 1904, Garrett Theological seminary in 1909 and received his Doctor of Divinity degree from Cornell in 1922. He retired in 1950 after serving pastorates in Clinton, Cedar Falls, Mt. Vernon, Mitchell, S.D. and Appleton, Wis. He then served a church in Pamona, Calif. on a part time basis for 13 years.

He was married in 1905 to Elma Jayne, who died in 1954. They were the parents of three children, the Rev. Hillis C. Culver, who died in 1963; Mrs. Eleanor Bucher, Dayton, and Mrs. Lyman (Jayne) Perkins, Monticello.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Six brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
