Rhinehart Siebels, 65, lifetime resident of Jones county, died Saturday at his home north of Monticello, apparently from a self-inflicted shotgun wound.

Siebels was found dead in his garage by his wife on her return home from work shortly after 2 p.m. He had left a note on the kitchen table and told her not to look in the garage.

The Jones county sheriff's office was notified about 2:20 p.m. Siebels had been shot through the heart with a .16 gauge shotgun.

Funeral services for Mr. Siebels were held Tuesday afternoon at Wayne Zion Lutheran church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Luther Wachholz officiated. Burial was in Wayne Zion cemetery.

Mr. Siebels was born March 23, 1900 in Wayne township, the son of Gerritt and Ann Rieken Siebels. He was educated in the rural schools of that area. He was clerk for 25 years in the farm implement department of Balsters at Scotch Grove and more recently was employed at Kane Implement in Cascade.

He was married to Augusta Monk Ahrenholtz of Monticello on Oct. 1, 1961. They made their home on Route 3 at the northeast edge of Monticello.

Survivors include his wife of the home; three brothers, William and J. Henry of Monticello and George of Amber; one sister, Mrs. Ben Wroblewski of Central City. He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Pallbearers were Allen Siebels, Vern Siebels, Wesley Siebels, Lawrence Folkers, William Albers and John Siebels.
