MONTICELLO - Mrs. Herman (Gertrude) Hessing died at John McDonald hospital Sunday, Aug. 15, following a long illness. Funeral services were held Wednesday morning from Sacred Heart Catholic church with the Rt. Rev. Msgr. E. P. Lorenz officiating. Burial was made at Sacred Heart cemetery.

Mrs. Hessing was born at Gross Point, Ill., May 31, 1898, the daughter of Gangolf and Barbara Housen Sisterhann. She was married to Herman Hessing Jan.9, 1924 at Willomette, Ill. They moved to the Monticello area in 1938. Mr. Hessing died in 1944.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America, Monticello camp, the Holy Rosary study club and the VFW Auxiliary.

Survivors include two daughters, Mary at home and Lois of Cedar Rapids; five sons, Herman of Lisbon, Donald of Monticello, Raphael (Bud) of Evanston, Ill., William of Clinton and James of Cedar Rapids. Also surviving are seven grandchildren.

Pallbearers included Robert Schuster, Joseph Pettinger, Donald Schoon, Clifford Sadler, Robert Duschner and Emil Feldman.
