MONTICELLO - Funeral services were held Monday at Prairie du Rocher, Ill., and at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral home for Leonard G. Otten, 39, who died April 2 from injuries in an auto accident March 28, near Red Bud, Ill. The Rev. Luther Wachholz officiated at the services and committal at the Wayne Zion cemetery near Monticello. The Monticello Drill team presented the military rites at the cemetery.

Leonard Otten was born July 17, 1925, at Anamosa, the son of Otto and Grace Gerdes Otten. He attended county schools and had served 14 years with the U.S. Army, but in recent years been employed by a milling firm in Prairie du Rocher.

He was married to Bertha Toomer of Plattsburg, N.Y., who with two children survive, Kathy Suzette and Leonard, Jr. Also surviving is one sister, Mrs. Fred (Hannah) Schlieman of Marshalltown and three brothers, William of Center Jct., Lawrence of Monticello and Clarence of Prairie du Rocher. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters.
