OXFORD JCT. - Funeral service for George Wesley Vacek, 59, who died at his home last Monday night after a long illness, were held Thursday afternoon at St. Mark's Lutheran church with Dr. E. A. Piper of DeWitt officiating. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery.

Mr. Vacek was born near Oxford Jct., Oct. 7, 1905, the son of Mike and Tina Slouha Vacek. He was married to Martha Fritz of Maquoketa, August 20, 1929. He was a member of the Z.C.B.J. lodge. He had farmed all his life until five years ago when he moved to town due to ill health.

Survivors include his wife, Martha; one son, Vernon of Oxford Jct.; two daughters, Mrs. Junior (Shirley) Koranda of Oxford Jct. and Mrs. Virginia Carter of Edgemont, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Mike Vacek; one brother, Charles; one sister, Mrs. Francis Buresh, all of Oxford Jct. and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his father, one sister and one brother.

Pallbearers included Robert Buresch, Charles Buresch, Joseph Buresch, James Vacek, Rudolph Ulferts and Virgil Behrends.
