CENTER JCT. - Mrs. Gladys McNeilly received word of the death of her brother-in-law, Fred Kempf of Monrovia, Calif. on Aug. 31. Funeral was held Friday at Monrovia.

A former resident of Monticello, Mr. Kempf was born Oct. 28, 1884, son of Albert and Ida Grassmeyer Kempf of Monticello. He graduated from Monticello high school in 1901 and attended Northwestern university where he was a graduate in pharmacy.

He was married to Vera Smith of Center Jct. in 1911. They lived in Oklahoma City, Okla., Cedar Rapids and Dubuque, where he had been a pharmacist. They moved to Boone to retire and for the last seven years had lived in Monrovia.

He is survived by two sons, Albert and Paul, both of California, and one grandson. His wife preceded him in death about a year ago.
