MONTICELLO - Mrs. John U. Arduser, 83, died at John McDonald hospital Thursday afternoon, Oct. 1, after suffering a heart attack at her home earlier in the day. Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. at Peace United Church of Christ with the Rev. John Siegle officiating. Interment was at Oakwood cemetery.

Christena Emelia Balsiger was born near Monticello, Aug. 31, 1881 the daughter of Christian and Anna Letscher Balsiger. She was married to John U. Arduser, June 23, 1904 at Monticello, and the couple made their home in this community. Mr. Arduser preceded her in death Aug. 11, 1957.

Surviving are the following children: Mrs. Hulda Behrends, Paul Arduser and Mrs. Carl (Matilda) Monk of Monticello; two step-daughters, Mrs. Dora Decker of Monticello and Mrs. Alva (Monica) Rodman of Springville.\

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; one brother, William Balsiger of Monticello, and two sisters, Mrs. Sam Semmert of Cedar Rapids and Mrs. Willard Caldwell of Portland, Ore.

Pallbearers included Clifford Arduser, Frank Schneiter, George Schmidt, Herbert Balsiger, Gene Thompson and James Balsiger.
