Funeral service for William G. Yount, 60, who died on Monday morning, was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Smykil Home for Funerals.

Rev. Walter D. Wigger, Baptist church pastor, assisted by Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., of the Methodist church, conducted the service. Masonic rites were in charge of Warren Rees. Escort of Knight Templars included William Hellberg, L. D. Murfield, William Folkerts, Joe Gierhart, Frank Miles and Ben Rhinehart.

Casket bearers were Carl Carter, Verne Purcell, Charles Tyler, R. L. LaChapelle, Irvin J. Hovet and Frank Stoughton. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

William Yount, son of Dalco and Carrie Mae Gray Yount, was born Aug. 8, 1887, in Anamosa.

He attended school here and later was employed by the railroad in Anamosa. He was transferred to South Dakota where he continued as a railroad man until in 1925 when he returned here.

He served as assistant superintendent in the number-plate department of the Iowa State Reformatory from 1925 until he became ill.

On Oct. 6, 1936, he was married to Mrs. Ruth Kegley. He was a member of the Anamosa Congregational church. He joined the Masonic lodge in Mitchell, S. Dak., in 1919 and in 1925 transferred his membership here. He was a member of Anamosa lodge, 46, A.F. & A.M., Mount Sinai chapter and Mount Olivet Commandery, Anamosa, and Al Kahir Shrine, Cedar Rapids.

In ill health several months, he died of pneumonia following an operation on Aug. 21.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Berry and Ruth Ann Kegley; one sister, Mrs. Mary Fairbanks, Cedar Rapids; four brothers, Clarence Yount, Rapid City, S. Dak.; Dalco Yount, Monticello; Arthur Lawrence, Anamosa, and Clifford Lawrence, Cedar Rapids, and a step-father, Sam Lawrence, Anamosa.
