Service for Lawrence Merrill, 80, who died early Saturday morning at Anamosa, was held Monday afternoon in the Smykil Home for Funerals. Rev. Sammie Weaver of the Farview church, officiated. Burial was in Green cemetery.

Casket bearers were Clyde Smith, Clarence Smith, James Porter, Dan James, Carl Buck and Ed McGowan.

Mr. Merrill, son of Isaac and Carolyn Merrill, was born Dec. 8, 1867 in Jones county.

He was married March 18, 1890, to Florence Irene Grassfield who died. Couple had two daughters, Lydia Lee Peters, deceased, and Mrs. Cuba Starry, Marion.

Mr. Merrill later married and had six children.

They are Jack, Donald and Albert Merrill, Monticello; Delbert Merrill, Viola, Mary, Rockford, Ill., and Ruth, Pella; two brothers, John and Frank Merrill, Anamosa, and four sisters, Mrs. George Voohries, Olin, Mrs. Lily Schladetzky, Bellevue, Mrs. Blanch Ellison and Mrs. Ada Ireland, Cedar Rapids.
