13 November 1947 - The Anamosa Journal

Ross D. McIntyre, 68, justice of the peace and insurance agent in Anamosa for many years, died of heart disease at 6 a.m. this Thursday in St. Luke's hospital, Cedar Rapids, where he had been a patient since Monday.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed. Body is in the Smykil Home for Funerals.

Mr. McIntyre lived in the Anamosa community most of his life. He was married to Myrtle Hoover of Cedar Rapids, who survives. As a young man he served as agent of the American Express Co. He later became agent for various insurance companies and for many years has been justice of the peace here.

He was a member of Anamosa lodge, 46, A.F. & A.M., Mount Sania chapter, Royal Arch Masons, and Mount Olivet Commandery, 36, Knights Templar. He also was a past president of the Anamosa Lions club.

He was a candidate for state representative in the 1944 Republican primaries against C. W. Strawman, Anamosa.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two children, Miss Ruth McIntrye, a teacher in the Moline, Ill., schools; a son, Bill McIntyre, Swampscott, Mass., and two grandchildren.
