AMBER - Mrs. Sophia Christina Bodeker, 64, long-time Amber resident, died Wednesday at 7 a.m. in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Margaret Broderson, Wyoming, with whom she had lived since October, 1944. She suffered a paralytic stroke in August, 1939, and had been bedfast since July of last year.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 1:15 p.m. at the Smykil Home for Funerals, Anamosa, and at 2 p.m. in Wayne Zion Evangelical church, with the Rev. F. H. Kehren, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Hymns "In the Hour of Trial, Jesus Plead for Me", and "God Will Take Care of You" will be sung during the service. Casket bearers will be Herman Zimmerman, Adolph Schoon, George Schoon, Will Zimmerman, George Siebels and Engwert Willms, all of Amber.

Anna Gerdus, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Brokens, was born March 4, 1883, in Wayne township. She was baptized the same month in the Wayne church, of which she was a lifelong member. She was married on Oct. 9, 1902, to Johann Gerhard Bodeker, by Rev. C. Mardorf, pastor at Wayne church. Her husband died on Sept. 18, 1944.

She is survived by six daughters, Mrs. Herman Engelbart, Amber; Mrs. Rhinehart Wessels, Anamosa; Mrs. Brodersen, Wyoming; Mrs. Louie Hayen and Mrs. Clarence Herren, Amber; Mrs. Louie Rickels, Monticello; one son, John Bodeker, Amber, and a sister, Mrs. Anna Statdemueller, Monticello.

There are 30 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Harry Wessels, who was killed in an auto accident three weeks ago, was her grandson. Two brothers and a sister preceded her in death.
