12 October 1964 - The Anamosa Journal

Fred Hasler, 61, Anamosa, died Wednesday, Oct. 7, at Mercy hospital.

Funeral services were held Friday, Oct. 9, at 2 p.m., at SS. Peter and Paul Lutheran church, rural Monticello. Rev. Richard Zellmer conducted the service. Burial was in Prairie Hill cemetery. Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa, was in charge of arrangements.

Pall bearers included Russell Gerdes, Earl Holub, Leonard Holub, Lewis Holub, Ralph Kurla and Ralph Ralston.

He was born Dec. 31, 1902, son of Rudolph Hasler and Elizabeth Eggers Hasler, Ironwood, Mich. He was married to Ethel Chapman, Oct. 16, 1923. She preceded him in death on March 10, 1959.

He was married to Mildred Edwards Grassfield on April 13, 1960. He had made his home on a farm in Cass township. He was a member of SS Peter and Paul Lutheran church.

Survivors include his wife, Mildred; one son, John, Coggon; four daughters, Ruth, Mrs. Junior Edwards, Anamosa; Irene, Mrs. Henry Behrends, Monticello; Donna, Mrs. John Jones and Patricia, Mrs. Edwin Lubben, both of Anamosa.

Other survivors included three step-daughters, Shirley, Mrs. Don Tureck, Marion; Mrs. Beverly Payton, Cedar Rapids; and Mrs. Patricia Ricklefs, Anamosa; one half-brother, George Hasler, and one half-sister, Mrs. Frieda Kimm, both of Coggon; 12 grandchildren and nine step grandchildren.

Besides his first wife he was preceded in death by his parents.
