MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Weert Onnen Bennen, 82, were held Wednesday afternoon at Wayne Zion Lutheran church with the Rev. Luther Wachholz officiating. Burial was in the Wayne Zion cemetery.

Mr. Bennen died Feb. 14 at his home in Monticello. He was born Nov. 9, 1882 in Ostfriesland, Germany, the son of Frederick and Anna Bennen Husmann. He came to the United States in March 1889 and settled in Jones county.

He was married Feb. 16, 1905, to Waebke Wennekamp. They lived in Scotch Grove township for a year and then farmed in Wayne township until retiring in 1944.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Tobias (Martha) Hanken, Mrs. Irene Streeper and Mrs. Ernest (Ruth) Portewig, all of Monticello; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; one brother, John Bennen, Wyoming; three half brothers, Henry Ricklefs of Scotch Grove, William Ricklefs of Anamosa and Herman Ricklefs of Saginaw, Mich., and two half sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Schoon of Onslow and Mrs. Adolph Schoon of Amber.

Pallbearers included Herman Helgens, Ed Helgens, Louis Helgens, George Harms, William Jansen and William T. Folkers.
