MONTICELLO - Funeral services for Margaretha Johnson, 85, were held Wednesday afternoon at SS. Peter & Paul Lutheran church, rural Monticello. The Rev. Richard Zellmer officiated. Burial was in Oakwood cemetery.

Mrs. Johnson died Jan. 31 at John McDonald hospital following an illness of several months. She was born Nov. 7, 1879 near Monticello, the daughter of Albert and Maria Behrends Heiken. She was educated in the rural schools of Jones county.

She was married Feb. 12, 1903 to Henry G. Johnson of Monticello. He preceded her in death Feb. 28, 1962. The Johnsons farmed in Jones and Delaware counties before moving to Monticello in 1944.

Survivors include two sons, Clarence and Albert of Monticello; two daughters, Mrs. Morris (Laura) Montgomery and Mrs. John (Irene) Vittengle of Monticello; eight grandchildren; one sister, Miss Anna Heiken, Monticello, and three brothers, Fred of Monticello, Carl of Marion and George of Anamosa. Six brothers preceded her in death.

Pallbearers were Carl Schoon, Leslie Heiken, Max Specht, John Heinken, Wayne Heiken and Minehart Zimmerman.
