MONTICELLO - Mrs. Margaret P. Jacobs, widow of Lawrence R. Jacobs, died at John McDonald hospital Saturday morning, Oct. 26, following an eight month illness. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at St. Matthew Lutheran church with the Rev. Anton Kirkegaard in charge. Interment was made at Oakwood cemetery.

Katherine Margaret Poppe was born Feb. 28, 1875 near Monticello, the daughter of John Dietrich and Katherine Pageler Poppe. She was a member of Wayne Zion Lutheran church. On Sept. 27, 1900, she was married to Lawrence R. Jacobs and the couple made their home in Monticello until 1919 when they moved to Waterloo for a year and then purchased a dairy in Emmetsburg. In 1953, the couple retired and moved to a new home in Emmetsburg.

After the death of her husband Oct. 17, 1957, Mrs. Jacobs continued making her home in Emmetsburg, making numerous visits to Monticello. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran church in Emmetsburg.

She is survived by one sister, Mrs. J. B. Zimmerman of Monticello, and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters.

Pallbearers included Alva Zimmerman, George Senst, Paul Gerdes, Frederick Rieniets, Victor Mowrey and Elmer Jacobs.
