21 May 1964 - The Anamosa Eureka

WASHINGTON D.C. - Harold E. Davis, 64, former resident of Anamosa, died unexpectedly at 2522 Iverson St., Hillcrest Heights, Washington, D.C. on Thursday, April 30.

Funeral services were held Monday, May 4 at the Chambers Funeral home. Burial was at Fort Lincoln cemetery in Washington.

He was born Feb. 10, 1900, in Greenfield township, Jones county, Iowa. He was associated with the Iowa State Reformatory for a number of years before moving to Baltimore, Md. to do similar work there. At the time of his death he was employed as an engineer at the District jail, Washington D.C., where he had been employed for the last 20 years.

Survivors include his wife, Emily R.; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia Richards; three sons, John I. Davis and Wayne A. Davis, all of Washington D.C.; and Dale D. Davis, Cedar Rapids.

Other survivors include three sisters, Mrs. Anyce D. Gillette, Birmingham, Mich.; Mrs. Lauribel R. Healy, Martelle; and Mrs. Betty J. Heffley, Los Angeles, Calif., and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ira L. Davis; a sister, Mrs. Zola M. Folden; and a brother, George W. Davis.
