11 June 1964 - The Anamosa Eureka

CENTER JUNCTION - Andrew Davis, 54, committed suicide Tuesday about 7:15 p.m. in the living room of his upstairs apartment on Main street in Center Junction.

He shot himself in the face with a 12-guage shotgun, according to Dr. John L. Bailey, Anamosa, deputy coroner, who investigated the case.

Davis was in ill health and had been depressed, according to his wife who was not home. Daughter, Cindy, about 9 years, was playing downstairs when she heard the shot and summoned her mother.

He had been employed at Kennedy Lumber Co. in Center Junction.

Body was taken to Hayden Funeral home, Wyoming.

No funeral service arrangements had been made as The Eureka went to press.

Survivors include the wife, two brothers, three sisters and his father.

18 June 1964 - The Anamosa Eureka

CENTER JUNCTION - Andrew Bajasch Davis, 54, Center Junction, died Tuesday, June 9 at his home in Center Junction.

Funeral services were held Friday, June 12 at 10 a.m. at Hayden's Funeral home, Wyoming. Rev. Kenneth Perinchief, pastor of the Methodist church, Wyoming, conducted the service. Burial was in North Madison cemetery, Center Junction.

Pallbearers include George Wessels, jr., Julius Thompson, Bob Lyons, Leonard Serbousek, Bill Wessels and Louis Moran.

Mr. and Mrs. John Moehl were vocalists. Mrs. Les Balster was organist.

He was born May 2, 1910, son of Raymond Davis and Edith Bajasch Davis, Center Junction. He was married Sept. 8, 1938, to Eleanore Lound, Brainerd, Minn.

He had spent most of his life in the Center Junction area. He was employed as a carpenter by Kennedy Lumber Co., Center Junction.

Survivors include his wife; four children, Judy Reid, Reading, Pa.; Andrew, jr., Candice Kay and Cynthia Sue, at home; his parents; two brothers, Ronald Davis, Center Junction, and Louis Davis, Clinton.

Other survivors include three sisters, Leone, Mrs. Ralph Mallicoat, Wyoming; Lorna, Mrs. Owen McGuire, Center Junction; and Nelda, Mrs. George Von Sprecken, Anamosa.
