2 November 1964 - The Anamosa Journal

Gerald L. Sampica, 72, Anamosa, died Saturday, Oct. 31, at his home at 402 East Pine street.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Nov. 3, at 9:30 a.m. at St. Patrick's Catholic church, Anamosa. Rev. J. A. McMahon conducted the service. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. McNamara Funeral home was in charge of arrangements.

Pallbearers included Harold Larsen, Lawrence Shanney, Lawrence LaBarge, William Porter, William Green and Gene Anderson.

He was born June 18, 1892, son of Joseph Sampica and Julia Denio Sampica, Stone City. He was married to Ella Aslin. He had lived his married life in and around Stone City and Anamosa.

He was employed by Iowa State Reformatory for many years. He recently retired. He was a veteran of World war I in the United States Army.

Survivors include his wife, Ella; a step son, Gordon J. Feekes, Marion; a sister, Mrs. Beatrice Blood, Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Joseph Sampica, Cedar Rapids, and Herbert Sampica, Sioux Falls, S. Dak.
