Funeral services for George F. Specht, 77, Anamosa, were held Saturday afternoon at the S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran church at Castle Grove.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Richard Zellmer with burial in Prairie Hill cemetery at Castle Grove.

Mr. Specht died unexpectedly Wednesday, Sept. 16, while working as county auditor at the courthouse.

Pallbearers were Everett Mayberry, Gene Taylor, Robert Black, Fred Kromminga, Donald Robertson and Fred Geyken.

George F. Specht was born June 22, 1887, in Castle Grove township, the son of Johann D. and Gertje Gerdes Specht.

On Nov. 25, 1913, he married Helena Heiken, and the couple farmed in Castle Grove.

On Jan. 1, 1933, Mr. Specht assumed office as Jones county auditor, and lived on his farm until moving to Anamosa in 1938. During his life he was a member of the S.S. Peter and Paul Lutheran church, and officer and member of the Anamosa Lions club.

Mr. Specht is survived by his son, Max, Monticello; a daughter, Loretta, Mrs. W. F. Shurts, Winnebago, Ill.; 11 grandchildren and a number nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, in 1952, three brothers and two sisters.
