HALE - Funeral service for Mrs. Ezra Sams, 60, who died Wednesday of last week in an Iowa City hospital following a lingering illness, was held in the Onslow Presbyterian church last Friday afternoon.

Rev. F. E. Somerville officiated and Mrs. Lyle Tompkins sang "In the Garden" and "Abide With Me," accompanied by Mrs. Ed Steele, pianist. Burial was in South Mineral cemetery, near Onslow.

Casket bearers were Kenneth Kennedy, Carol Lightfoot, Frank Byerly, Alva Streeper, George French, George Lyons.

Lizzie McMaster, daughter of Charles and Lucy McMaster, was born near Onslow on September 30, 1887. She was graduated from Onslow high school in 1905, and taught in rural schools for several years.

In 1925, she bought the general store in Hale. On Sept. 30, 1928, she was married to Ezra Sams, Cedar Rapids, where the home was made until Mr. Sams retired when they returned to Hale.

She is survived by her husband; two brothers, Thomas McMaster, Riceville, and Arthur McMaster, Clinton. Her parents and a sister, Ella Izentrigger, preceded her in death.
