Funeral service for John E. Stupka, 79, was held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Smykil Home for Funerals. Mr. Stupka died Sunday in Mercy hospital.

Rev. S. V. Williams, Mount Vernon, conducted the service and Mrs. Vincent P. Owen, accompanied by Mrs. Glen A. Russell, organist, sang "Ivory Palaces" and "Abide With Me."

Casket bearers were William Filter, Fred Sacora, George Wosaba, Chauncy Hodgden, Tony Beranke and Elwin May. Burial was in Mayflower cemetery, Oxford Junction.

Mr. Stupka was born at Monmouth on July 28, 1868, son of John and Mary Kotek Stuka. On Jan. 1, 1903, he married Sara Asenath Preston. Couple settled in Oxford Mills where he served as engineer of the light plant for 13 years.

He is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Fred Socara, Oxford Junction; Mrs. George Wosaba, Milwaukee, Wisc.; Mrs. William Filter and Mrs. Elwin May, Anamosa; nine grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Blanch Riches, Wyoming, and a brother, Ed Stupka, Cedar Rapids.
