Alfred E. Walton, 72, Los Angeles, former Anamosa monument dealer, died last Monday at 5:30 a.m. of heart disease in California hospital at Los Angeles.

Mr. Walton had entered the hospital last Friday.

Funeral service was held Wednesday morning at 11:30 a.m. at the Pierce mortuary with burial at George Walton's San Martin estate in Los Angeles.

Mr. Walton came to Anamosa as a boy from Waukeegan, Ill., with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William S. Walton. His father and later Alfred operated a monument business in Anamosa until 1940 at the location now occupied by Shada's Anamosa Fruit market.

Mr. and Mrs. Walton sold their home at 505 East First St. in Anamosa to Rev. and Mrs. C. E. Burdine and gave possession Dec. 18, 1941, leaving the next day for California where they have lived at 2041 LaSalle St., Los Angeles.

Mr. Walton was active in the Masonic lodge and was a past patron of Eastern Star at Anamosa. He served as president of the board of the Congregational church at Anamosa.

He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Walton; a brother, George; and a sister, Hattie.
