Funeral services for Rudolph Winkler, for many years a resident of Monticello and vicinity, were held at the Congregational church Sunday afternoon at 2:30. Rev. Andrew Mast officiated. Interment was made at Oakwood cemetery. Pallbearers were Lorenz Allamand, William Burrichter, Ulrich Schilt, B. C. Hall, Elmer Coon, and E. H. Huibregtse.

Mr. Winkler passed away at the John McDonald hospital Thursday evening, April 17, following an 18-day illness. He was a native of Switzerland and was born Nov. 21, 1877 at Bloomenstein. He was a son of Rudolph and Anna Marie Winkler and lived in the land of his birth until the family removed to the United States in 1886. They settled at Monticello.

Mr. Winkler was confirmed in the Reformed church at Monticello by the Rev. E. E. Gruenstein. He served on the church consistory for many years and was a faithful attendant at its services throughout his life.

He was married Oct. 23, 1902 to Louise Loetscher. Their home was made on a farm northwest of Monticello for 25 years. Thereafter they moved to Monticello where Mr. Winkler spent the remainder of his life.

Mr. and Mrs. Winkler became the parents of four children: Carl, Anne (Mrs. Marcus Maire), Edith (Mrs. Irvill Rhatigan), Monticello, and Rose (Mrs. Calvin Accola) of Des Moines. In addition to his children he is survived by his wife, eight grandchildren, a niece and four nephews.
