Funeral service for Mrs. Sarah Weiss, 87, who died Sunday at 2 a.m. in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, was held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Smykil Home for Funerals.

Rev. Barney C. Crockett, pastor of First Congregational church, officiated, and Mrs. Vincent Owen and Miss Florence Hale, accompanied by Mrs. Glen Russell, pianist, sang hymns.

Casket bearers were Hector Bray, John Albers, Henry Zimmerman, Albert Doyle, Chris Conrad and Harold Yount. Burial was in Riverside cemetery.

Sarah Elizabeth Steckel was born Nov. 10, 1859, in Allentown, Pa., the daughter of Ethrain and Sally Ann Streckel, one of a family of 11 children. She came to Iowa with her family as a young girl.

She was married April 4, 1882, in Sabula to Charles R. Weiss, who died on December 5, 1931. The couple always lived in this community. Mrs. Weiss was a member of the First Congregational church, Anamosa. She was taken to the hospital Wednesday of last week after a stroke.

She is survived by two children, Mrs. James Belknap, Cedar Rapids and M. H. Weiss, Anamosa; three sisters, Mrs. William Strawman, Mrs. John Bailey, and Miss Abbie Steckel, all of Anamosa, and three grandsons, Ralph Belknap, Cedar Rapids, Donald Belknap, Cleveland, Ohio, and Allen Weiss, Anamosa.
