OLIN - Funeral service was held for Mrs. Earl Phillips, 48, Monday at 10 a.m. at the Methodist church, with Rev. W. E. Strait in charge, Rev. W. T. Boston, assisting. Burial was at Tioga, Ia.

Pallbearers were Gerald Jones, Henry Hanken, Frank Miles, Don Moreland, Oren Brinkley and W. Robertson.

Verta B. Ankerman Phillips was born at Peoria, Okla., Oct. 27, 1896. At the age of nine she and her parents moved to What Cheer, where she spent her entire youth, graduating from the What Cheer high school in 1916. After graduating from high school she taught school for several years in Iowa, Missouri and Kansas. Last 15 years of her life have been spent in northeastern Iowa.

She was united in marriage to Earl Phillips Dec. 22, 1923. To this union two children were born, Billy, who died in infancy, and Lura Lee, eight.

In addition to her husband and daughter, she is survived by her mother, Mrs. Mary S. Eldridge, Brawley, Calif.; and one sister, Mrs. Earl Forgaard, Butte, Mont.
