Funeral service for Helen Roberta Foarde, 46, who died Sunday, July 1, at Clarinda, was held at St. Patrick's Catholic church last Thursday morning. Requiem high mass was sung by Rev. Fr. J. A. McMahon. Burial was in Holy Cross cemetery. Pallbearers were nephews of the deceased: Gerald, John, Verne and Robert Koppenhaver, James Dougherty and Thomas Haun. Loder Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Miss Foarde, daughter of the late Thomas and Margaret Foarde, was born Aug. 11, 1898, in Anamosa. She graduated from the Anamosa high school May 31, 1917. Entering nurse's training at Mercy hospital, she completed the course, and graduated with the first class from Mercy Oct. 31, 1920, passing the state board examination in February, 1921.

Helen practiced her profession in Anamosa, at Mercy hospital, Cedar Rapids, and entered the United States Public Health service. She as assigned to the Edward Huies, Jr., hospital, Maywood, Ill., where she served for about a year. She then went to Des Moines where she practiced until a complete nervous collapse caused her to discontinue active service.

Surviving members of the family are her sisters, Mrs. Mary Dougherty and Mrs. Ellis Koppenhaver, Anamosa; Mrs. Nora White, Alice and Agnes Foarde, Des Moines; Mrs. George L. Ellis, Hialeah, Fla., and one brother, John J. Foarde, Des Moines. Number of nieces and nephews also survive.
