Funeral service for Mrs. August Erickson, 78, who died Monday at Mercy hospital was held Wednesday at the Smykil Home for Funerals. Rev. Edgar E. Walker, jr., of the Methodist church, was the officiating minister. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

Mary Erickson was born June 3, 1867, in Malmo, Sweden, and came to America when a small girl. She was united in marriage to August Erickson and they made their home in Jones Co.

One daughter, Mrs. Elsie Dunlap, Marion, and four sons, Edward, Carbon Cliff, Ill.; Harry, Springville; Fred, Anamosa, and William, who died Jan. 27, 1943, were born to union. Others who survive are her husband, three grandchildren, Paul Erickson, Carbon Cliff, Ill., Sgt. Harry Dunlap, in the armed forces in the Pacific, and Mary Jean Erickson, Springville; one sister, Christina Lundeen, Springville, and a brother, Martin S. Nielson.
