Andrew English, 85, retired farmer, died Saturday at Mercy hospital, following a long illness. Solemn High Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Patrick's church Tuesday morning at nine o'clock.

Pastors in charge were the Rev. Fr. J. A. McMahon, the Rev. Fr. DeLay and the Rev. Fr. Ivan Boyd. Casketbearers were Phil Daly, Tom Stimson, William Geason, B. I. McLaughlin, Mike Marek and John Flaherty. Arrangements were in charge of the Loder Funeral Home.

Andrew English was born Feb. 12, 1860, at Anamosa, the son of Thomas and Bridget English. He never married. He farmed in Jones Co. all of his life, retiring last March when he moved to Anamosa.

Surviving are one sister Bridget, and several nieces and nephews. Three brothers, John, Thomas and Matthew, and one sister, Mary, preceded him in death.
