Marlene A. Flory, 86, of Oxford Junction passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 at the Anamosa Care Center.

A visitation will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. A memorial service will be held at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church on Wednesday, April 28, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to her service. Burial will be held in the Mayflower Cemetery in Oxford Junction.

Marlene Ann was born on July 21, 1934 in Oxford Junction to Harro and Agnes (Burda) Ingwersen. She graduated from Oxford Junction in 1952. On September 9, 1953 she was united in marriage to the love of her life David Flory at the Zion American Lutheran Church in Wyoming, Iowa. She was an Iowa Master Farm Homemaker and a member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Oxford Junction where she served on the church council and was an officer in WELCA. Marlene was involved in many things such as knitting Comfort Shawls, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, she was one of the founders of the Oxford Junction Heritage Museum, served on the Board of Senior Housing, Oxford Junction Homemakers and a 60 year member of Order of the Eastern Star. She took great pride in volunteering. She earned the Oxford Junction Volunteer of the year Award because of her volunteer work with 4-H Jones County Extension, church and in her community. Marlene was a newspaper correspondent since 1971 and helped her husband with their business Flory’s Feeds. She was the Oxford Junction City Clerk for six years.

Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 67 years David, three children: Bradley (Julie) Flory of Pella; Debra (Steve) Foege of Central City; Charles “Chip” (Sue) Flory of Denver, Iowa; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, a sister Judy (Richard) Cannon of Florida, a brother Roger (Deb) Ingwersen of Massachusetts and a brother-in-law Joseph (JeanAnn) Flory of Indiana and a sister-in-law Judy Flory.

She is preceded in death by her parents.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to her family in her honor.
