22 February 1945 - The Anamosa Eureka

Levi A. Birk, son of John and Christi Burner Birk, was born on August 2, 1878, on a farm in Buffalo township, Linn county, Iowa, the farm which he still owned and on which most of his interest continued to center. He received his education in the Anamosa schools and in the University of Iowa, from which he graduated in 1901. He was a member of the Phi Beta Theta fraternity. The greater part of his life was spent in Chicago where he followed his profession as civil engineer.

In 1906 he was married to Anna Henke of Aurora, Ill. He was a man of high ideals and strict integrity and had the respect of all who knew him. Though quiet and reserved he never failed to lend a helping hand to those in need.

After more than a month of suffering he passed quietly away at Mercy hospital February 19, 1945. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife and many relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Loder Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. The Rev. Homer Dalrymple officiated with burial in Riverside cemetery. Pallbearers were A. B. Lake, C. Wilson, Edward Uhbanek, M. C. Crispin, Howard Hart and William Folkerts.
