Funeral services for Mrs. Charles F. Stookey, 85, mother of Mrs. O. A. Rife, Anamosa, was held Monday at her home at Shellsburg. Mrs. Stookey died at the home of her daughter in Anamosa Saturday, where she and Mr. Stookey had resided for the past seven winters. Burial was at Shellsburg.

Lucy Alice, youngest child of William J. and Sarah A. Elson White, was born at Shellsburg, Aug. 16, 1859. She attended Normal school at Vinton and Western college. She taught school following her graduation.

April 20, 1882, she was united in marriage to Charles Fremont Stookey. They established their home at Shellsburg, where they lived until her death, with the exception of the past seven winters which they spent in the Rife home in Anamosa.

She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church at Shellsburg. She was also a member of the White Lily chapter No. 427, Order of the Eastern Star at Shellsburg.

She and her husband were privileged to celebrate both their 50th and 60th wedding anniversaries.

Surviving are her husband, two sons, Dr. Charles Owen Stookey, Vinton; and Pearl L. Stookey, Des Moines; the daughter, Mrs. O. A. Rife, Anamosa; and four grandchildren, David O. and James Stookey Rife, both of Anamosa; Mrs. Ed Baccus, Baltimore, Md., and Mrs. Don Winders, Des Moines.

Rev. M. L. Sunderlin officiated at the service. Smykil funeral home was in charge of arrangements.
