September 7, 1944 - The Anamosa Journal

Accident at 11:30 P.M. Friday on the Onslow road, one mile north of Wyoming resulted in the death of one person, and the injury of four others, one seriously.

The dead: Miss Elsie Ripperton, 24, Onslow. The injured: Mrs. Frank Ripperton, Onslow, seriously injured; Frank Ripperton, Onslow, her husband, father of Elsie; Eionon Kremer, Cascade, slightly injured; Dorothy Kremer, Cascade, his sister, slightly injured.

According to Sheriff Henry Eichhorn who investiated the accident, Kremer car was traveling south, and the Ripperton car north, when the collision occured. Both cars were badly damaged.

Funeral service for Elsie G. Ripperson was held Monday afternoon in the Presbyterian church at Onslow, Rev. Frank Schroder, pastor, officiating. Burial was at Canton.

Two selections were sung by Lyle Thompson, Center Junction, accompanied by Mrs. Truman Stanton. Pallbearers were Frank Byerly, Garrett Juilfs, Louis Jensen, A. E. Stampe, Herman Seehusen and Henry Moenk.

Elsie Galilee Ripperton was born July 2, 1920, at Emeline, Ia., and spent her entire life in and near Monmouth and Onslow.

Surviving are her parents, three sisters, Mrs. Lula Williams, Onslow; Mrs. Gracie Yarolim, Monmouth, and Miss Alice Ripperton, Washington, D. C.; one brother, C. M. Ripperton, Onslow.

A brother, Squire, and sister, Mildred, preceded her in death.
