EHLERS, OLTMANNS, SIEBELS

Funeral service for John Ehlers, 64, who died Thursday in Mercy hospital, Anamosa, following a long illness, was held Sunday afternoon at St. Paul's American Lutheran church. Rev. H. L. Buesing was the officiating minister. Wilma Schrader and Virginia Dirks sang two selections. Burial was in Castle Grove cemetery. Smykil Home for Funerals was in charge of arrangements.

John Ehlers, oldest son of Henry C. and Maria Anna Tobaben Ehlers, was born near Cole Camp, Mo., May 1, 1881. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith March 8, 1896, at Brauersville, Mo. He attended rural school, was employed on the railroad in Missouri for a time, and farmed for nearly 40 years. He purchased the John Wilkens farm near Langworthy in 1939, after farming in this state for 28 years. He never married, and was assisted in keeping house by his sister, Rebeccah.

Deceased was one of the original 11 founders of St. Paul's church in Anamosa, and an ardent supporter of the institution.

Surviving are four sisters, Rebeccah, Mrs. Maggie Oltmanns and Mrs. Siebelt Siebels, Anamosa; Mrs. John Siebels, Amber, and one brother, Fred Ehlers, Cole Camp, Mo.
