Anna Mary Conmey was born in Overton, Pennsylvania, on Feb. 28, 1867, and came to Jones county, Iowa, in November of that year with her parents, John and Mary Jordan Conmey. When she was 15, the family moved to cottage on South Garnavillo in which she continued to live until 1904. She attended local rural schools, Anamosa high school, and Cedar Rapids Business college. At 18, she commenced her 15-year career as a teacher in rural and village schools of the county. After her retirement from teaching, she assisted her brother, J. W. Conmey, in his store.

On Jan. 24, 1905, she was united in marriage to A. D. Corcoran. Two daughters, Wilma Abigail and Mary Margaret, were born of this union. From 1907 to 1920 the family resided on their farm in Macon county, Missouri, returning to their home in Anamosa 26 years ago.

In October of last year, Mrs. Corcoran moved to Dubuque and since November resided at St. Joseph's. She was bedridden since May 8. She died at the sanitarium on Thursday afternoon, Aug. 8.

Her friends gathered at the McNamara funeral home to recite the Aug. 9, and Rev. J. A. McMahon sang the Requiem mass for her on Saturday morning. Interment was at Holy Cross cemetery.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Margaret, and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Sister Mary Irma, B.V.M., Chicago, three nephews, Dr. Roy M. Conmey, Sergeant Bluff; James Conmey, New York; and Lawrence Conmey, Anamosa, and two neices, Margaret Conmey and Mrs. John P. Cavanaugh both of Des Moines.

Mrs. Corcoran was a charter member of the Anamosa chapter of the Catholic Order of Foresters, a member of the Women's club of her Missouri neighborhood and of the Independent Farm Women's club of Anamosa and, so long as her health permitted, participant in the activities of St. Patrick's parish of Anamosa.
