OXFORD JUNCTION - Funeral service was held Saturday afternoon at two o'clock from the Hayden funeral home for John Carrington, 79. Service was conducted by the Rev. Wilbur Altheide, Oxford Mills. Lyle Jeffrey and Marjorie Leslie sang. Those serving as pallbearers were Vern Hodgden, George Yarolem, Amos Hodgden, Austin Conwell, Fred McClure and Chauncy Hodgden. Burial was in the Mayflower cemetery.

John Carrington was born near Maquoketa June 14, 1866, son of James and Sarah Carrington. He was united in marriage to Flora Taylor, Maquoketa, Feb. 17, 1888, who died a year ago. He had lived at Oxford Mills for many years and died Thursday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the University hospital at Iowa City. He had been in ill health for two years.

He is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Maude Coker, Maquoketa, and Mrs. Grace Leonard, Clinton, one son, Verne Carrington, Anamosa; two brothers, Sam, Oxford Junction, and Charles, Marion; and three sisters, Mrs. Ben Hansen and Mrs. Gertie Cook, Oxford Mills, and Mrs. May Mitchel, Monmouth.
