May 24, 1945 - The Anamosa Journal

Funeral service for Elizabeth Perkins Chipman, 83, who died May 16, at the home of her son in Duluth, Minn., was held Saturday afternoon in the Anamosa Baptist church, Rev. B. H. Shaw, officiating minister. Burial was made in Riverside cemetery.

She was born Jan. 1, 1862, on a farm in Linn county, Ia., the daughter of George C. and Elizabeth Edgington Perkins. She attended the Anamosa schools, and after graduation taught for some time.

In 1887 she was married to Louis Henry Chipman. To this union two sons and a daughter, Leigh, James and Bess, were born. She spent most of her life in or near Anamosa.

She was a life long member of the Baptist church.

Her husband, one son and her daughter preceded her in death.

Those from out of town who attended the service were her son, F. L. Chipman, Duluth, Minn., a granddaughter, Mrs. Sidney Clark, Minneapolis, Minn.; Miss Maud Chipman, Clinton; Mrs. Fannie Davis, Dixon, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Mallie, New Boston, Ill.; Ensley Strite, Mount Vernon, and Mrs. Nelle Hert and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Perkins, Cedar Rapids.
