OXFORD JUNCTION--Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hunwardsen have been notified by the government that Sergt. Junior Evard Magruder, 23, who was reported missing in flight over China, May 3, is known definitely to be dead.

He was a radio operator on a bomber. He was born in Oxford Junction, Aug. 25, 1921, son of the late Attorney E. L. Magruder, Maquoketa. He made his home for a number of years with Mr. and Mrs. Hunwardsen in Oxford Junction where he graduated from the high school, class of '42. He enlisted in the service the fall of the same year, and was soon sent to India.

He is survived by a sister, Theo, New York, a brother, Pvt. David, Fort Lewis, Wash., a half sister, Shirley Hendersen, and a half brother, Wayne Waite, Oxford Junction, and a half brother, Jackie Waite, Maquoketa. Mrs. Hundwardsen is arranging for a memorial service to be held soon.
