Doris Husmann, 95, died peacefully Friday evening, Feb. 5, 2021, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center following a brief illness. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 9, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church with interment in the Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call after noon at the church. Mask's must be worn and fitted properly over the nose and mouth at all times to enter the church. Social distancing needs to be practiced as well. The Rev. Wade Reddy will officiate at the services. Surviving are two children, Larry (Susan) Husmann, Columbus, Ind., and LuAnn (Richard) Wolken, Monticello; seven grandchildren, Todd (Jennifer) Husmann, Tom (Kristie) Husmann, Christin (Randy) Husmann-Miller, Michael (Teresa) Wolken, Mathew (Pam), Wolken, Melissa Wolken and Brian ( Ali) Wolken; 11 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph, in 2014; and her two sisters, Opal Poock and Iris Young. Doris Mae Porter was born Nov. 14, 1925, at Anamosa, Iowa. She was the daughter of Harold and Nellie Kurth, Porter. Doris went to school at Olin, but graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools in 1943. She worked as a house girl for several families during the summer months. Doris Mae Porter and Ralph Husmann were married July 5, 1944, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple lived in Amber, Springville and Center Junction before moving to the Husmann family farm near Center Junction. Doris worked at Mode O' Day in Monticello for several years. She was member of the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school and bible school. Doris was a wonderful seamstress. She also enjoyed her flower gardens, ceramics and going to the Great Jones County Fair. Time spent with family was always important to her especially taking the grandchildren and great-grandchildren to Central Park. She loved traveling with Ralph or spending time at their homes in Arizona and Arkansas and going to various country music festivals.
