CENTER JUNCTION--Glen O. Watson, 70, longtime resident of Center Junction, died in an Iowa City hospital at 5 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 25. He had been in failing health for some time.

He was the son of David and Mary Ann (Shipley) Watson, and was born May 8, 1870, in Maryland. He came to Center Junction with his parents when a young boy and with the exception of eight years in South Dakota and four years in Maquoketa had spent his entire life here. He was married May 23, 1899, to Belle Eldred, who survives with two children, Glen, Sioux City, and Leola Heeren, Monticello; five grandchildren; three sisters, Nettie Page, Waucoma; Hattie Charrington, Bolivar, Mo., and Bertha Bieber, Maquoketa; and two brothers, Wilbur, Amber; and Webb. Bolivar, Mo. One brother, Elmer, preceded him in death.

Mr. Watson retired from his barber business two years ago because of ill health. He also operated a general store at Center Junction years ago and served as postmaster for several years. He had held various offices in the town council and was a member of the Methodist church.

Funeral service was held Saturday at 1:30 p.m. at the home and at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with the Rev. R. C. Scott officiating. Burial was made in the Madison Pioneer cemetery.

Casket bearers were: W. H. Hansen, John Livingstone, Merlin Moses, Peter Prahm, H. E. Stingley and Frank Preston.
