Dean A. Van Amburg, 53, Anamosa, died Thursday, Nov. 8, at Iowa City, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held Monday, Nov. 12, at 1:30 p.m., at the Goettsch Funeral home, Anamosa. Rev. Lee Hobel officiated at the services. Burial was in Riverside cemetery, Anamosa.

Pallbearers included: Leo Leesekamp, Raymond Leesekamp, Doyle Day, Virgil Day, George Armstrong and Virgil Van Amburg.

He was born July 5, 1909, son of Thomas Van Amburg and Olive Smith Van Amburg, Anamosa. He was married April 23, 1931, to Edna Newton, Anamosa. He had lived his married life in Anamosa. He worked as a logger.

Survivors include his wife, Edna; two daughters, Mrs. Loretta Briggs, Urbana; Mrs. Jane Paradis, Westminster, Calif.; two sons, Dale, United States Army, Germany; and Bruce, Anamosa.

Others include two brothers, Bruce Van Amburg, Cedar Rapids, and John Van Amburg, Huntsville, Ark; two half sisters, Mrs. Nellie Leesekamp, Sonora, Calif.; and Mrs. Mary Stumbaugh, Port Isabel, Texas; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
