Funeral service for John D. Belknap, 72, Anamosa, who died Dec. 24, was held last Friday at the Methodist church with the Rev. J. K. Delahooke officiating.

Casket bearers were: Dr. B. F. Erb, William Fisher, Roy McMickle, P. S. Robertson, Arthur Remley and Alfred Walton.

Burial took place at Riverside cemetery. Smykil Funeral service was in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Belknap was born in Jackson township, May 4, 1868, the son of Cable and Elizabeth Belknap who pioneered in the township before the Civil war. He was married to Essie M. Donald June 28, 1905.

He attended the Common schools and later Upper Iowa university and for several years thereafter was employed in the clothing store of the late E. J. Wood. He resigned this position to take the appointment of rural mail carrier at Anamosa Dec. 1, 1902, and 11 years later was promoted to city carrier in which capacity he served until his retirement Nov. 30, 1932.

Mr. Belknap is survived by his wife, two brothers, Joseph, Anamosa, and Oscar, Cedar Rapids; two sisters, Jennie, Anamosa, and Mrs. J. H. Rabsep, Cedar Rapids.
